Sculpture designed and made by sculpture artist Henri Versteeg

The Sculpture symbolizes the journey of the Ego and of Spirit in our life.
The black inner core strand (Spirit) stems from within ourselves and thus symbolizes our true self, our inner core.
The black color of the core shows us how little we actually know about our self, how little we actually see and show to the world and how persistent most human beings are in keeping their inner core away from the light, in the darkness thinking that by keeping it in the dark nobody, especially the person self will get to know their true inner being.
We also see that the black strands, our inner core, swirls close around the core at first, expanding outwards but remaining true to its color, direction and proximity coming out on top in the end.
The red strands (Ego), in this case the more colorful, symbolize the outer journey, that of the Ego which goes into two directions at the top. The shiny arrow points are the shiny distractions that Ego uses in its attempt to seduce us into behavior that leads away from our path and thus away from our true inner core strength.
The red color also symbolizes the blood, sweat and tears that have shed in the attempt of the Ego to keep you away from the real truth battling with the persistent yet loving way of the Spirit to work with you instead of against you. Ego’s persistent attempt to keep the truth, which is that you have lived a lie until now, to let you see the true inner core, the beauty from within hidden from you.
The red is also the color to show in which direction not to go but unfortunately the color red works like a red flag to a bull, charging full steam ahead not knowing for what reason and running away from its own inner core strength.
Also notice how the red strands start outside the black inner core thus representing the outer Ego society. Just like the Ego is fed and nurtured by the outside environment in order to grow, expand and be part of the larger Ego around us.
The red and black strands, the Ego and Spirit path, intertwine, intersect and meet on several occasions just like they do in life.
It all depends on the individual human being how long one wants to stay at those intersections or follow once own path.
